Seoul Direct Enrollment - Korea University

Program Overview

IES Abroad is partnering with Korea University, a prestigious private research university in Seoul, and trusted partner of IES Abroad’s Study Abroad Foundation (SAF), to offer the Seoul Direct Enrollment - Korea University Program for Fall, Spring, and Academic Year terms.

Why Seoul?

Seoul is a dynamic metropolis where ancient history and modern life converge. And you might have heard that Seoul was ranked third “best student city” according to the QS World University Rankings® 2022! Winning factors include a “24/7” culture thanks to night markets, late-night tea houses, and 115 museums; nine major subway (plus bus) lines so everything feels convenient; and a population of nearly 10 million people to enjoy all that it has to offer.

Seoul will be your classroom. You'll find opportunities to apply what you learn while you explore popular local sites, such as N Seoul Tower and the Bukchon Hanok Traditional Village. Visit some of the city's many museums, like the National Museum of Korea and the Seoul Museum of Art. Everything you do will be part of your learning experience. We want you to feel at home in South Korea, aso we do everything we can to help you integrate into life in Seoul. From housing to cultural events, our job is to make sure you have the most authentic study abroad experience possible.

Korea University

Korea University (KU), established in 1905, is well-regarded internationally with excellent rankings and a wide variety of open and available coursework across many majors. As one of the prestigious “SKY” Universities, along with Yonsei University and Seoul National University, KU offers a top-notch education for domestic and international students alike. We are excited to work with KU as an esteemed STEM-focused institution with innovations in teaching, including incubators and undergraduate research opportunities. KU has nearly 37,000 students and over 5,000 academic staff members

What You'll Study

More than 500 courses in a wide variety of disciplines are offered in English at Korea University. Additionally, you will have access to Korean language instructions through intensive courses if you meet certain requirements, and non-intensive courses offered through the University's Office of International Affairs.

You will enroll in 5-6 courses at Korea University for a total of 15-18 credits. Yonsei courses are typically worth 3 IES Abroad credits each. Korea University has hundreds of course offerings in English. The course disciplines listed are available to IES Abroad students. Student Life

We strive to make sure you feel safe, cared for, and at home while you’re away from home. Whether it’s the orientation program that makes you feel prepared, your housing that is well-located and comfortable, the cultural events that make it easy and fun to meet other international and local students, or the field trips and walking tours that take you to places tourists don’t usually see—we’re all about our student service. Learn more about the day-to-day studying abroad on this program. From field trips to housing, it’s all on IES Abroad’s website.

So picture it: you're walking to class listening to your favorite K-Pop songs with a hoppang (steamed bun) from a pojangmacha (street cart) in hand. Perhaps you'll have a study session at a nearby café later in the afternoon. Then take a short trip to Hongdae's shopping street for a new outfit, ready for the next day in bustling Seoul.

Scholarships & Aid

IES Abroad firmly believes that financial limitations should not prevent a qualified student from participating in an IES Abroad program. That's why we commit $5 million in study abroad scholarships and aid, all offered through one quick and easy application. Check out all of our scholarship options at www.IESabroad.org/aid.

Aid Application Deadlines:
Summer – April 1
Fall/Academic Year – May 1
Spring/Calendar Year – November 1
